Responsibilities
- Daily ensures that catering materials are ready and well laid on each table.
- Welcomes customers when they arrive at a restaurant and serves them as they enter the restaurant.
- Introduces customers to the menu and announces daily or seasonal menu specials.
- Ensure that the restaurant / working area is kept clean at all times.
- Answers questions about menu items, ingredients, and pricing.
- Takes customer orders for food and drinks by writing them on a ticket, or memorizing them.
- Passes customer orders along to kitchen staff for preparation.
- Collects food orders from the kitchen, verifies that they are correct and serves them to customers.
- Ensures that customers are satisfied with their meals and processes orders for additional courses if necessary.
- Removes used dishes, glasses, and other used items from tables.
- Coordinates with cashier to prepare bills and delivers them to customers.
- Processes cash, credit card payments and returns change to customers if necessary.
- Sets tables with dishes, glasses, and refills table utilities e.g. serviettes, salt, sauce etc.
- Maintains familiarity with menu items, specials and restaurant information.
- Meets with managers and staff daily or regularly in order to learn about menu changes and specials as well as discuss upcoming reservations and customers with special needs.
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Must have a diploma or a degree in hospitality or any other related field from a recognized
academic institution. - Good in English and Swahili.
- Previous work experience is an added advantage.
